On the 25th of March – 3rd of April 2016, IICS arranged a study trip to Australia. This trip is organized for us year 11 students to have a taste and explore some of the best universities in Australia. Me, my 14 other friends and our principal, Mr. Kristhianto, went on the trip together. The school scheduled us to visit a variety of universities: Griffith University (State of Queensland), Monash University, Melbourne University (State of Victoria), University of Technology Sydney (UTS), UNSW, University of Sydney, Excelsia College, and Macquarie University (all five are in the state of New South Wales).
Visiting the universities was a really fun and educational experience, we get to have a look around the campus seeing whether we like the environment or not, presentations were also given so that we would understand more about the different curriculum different universities have. But the most important part of the trip was meeting the IICS’s alumni that are studying in the university, because we get to talk and ask questions to people who have been in the same position as us right now. However, our time there was not only spent visiting universities, but we visited places that are very entertaining too: Shrine of Remembrance, Movie World, Dream World, Bondi Beach and etc.
Personally, I consider this trip very beneficial and fun, as I learned more about various universities while having the opportunity to rekindle old friendships and initiate new ones too. I would definitely recommend for future year 11 students to join this study trip if they genuinely wish to know more about the universities and to have a great time with friends, however I would not recommend this trip for students that does not actually want to understand more for it may create a disturbance to the others.
