Fam, Yeah!

TSONY DSChe day begins with a counterpoise of nervous, first chatters and boisterous laughter from the exuberant reunions by the whitewashed hallways of IICS. Excitement and exhilaration pumps through the veins of senior High freshmen through ‘Fam, Yeah!’- IICS’ Student Orientation Day by 19-21 July 2017. The first day starts with a school tour to familiarize the students with the school layout and facilities followed by a series of informative presentations from the Principal, Sir Kristhianto Kainama, Vice Principal, Miss Natasha Christiani, University Counselor, Miss Eliana Maria and etc,. After the presentations, students were guided to the first set of activities of their orientation day called ‘Find Your Mentor’ with the objective of finding their appointed mentors- set to be their acquaintance and familiar connection with their seniors! This is done by accomplishing in the critical-thinking catalyst and teamwork inducing games to gain clues of their mentor’s whereabouts.

By the second day of ‘Fam, Yeah!’ consists of a broader range of RPG (Roleplay Games) activities and an exciting Mega Game of ‘Running Man’ (a Student Council versus Year 10 freshmen activity). The day ends with testimonies and comical accounts by the committees of their personal experiences, hardships, and advices for the freshman’s future upcoming as a Year 10 student in IICS along with winner announcements and prize-giving!

‘Fam, Yeah!’ ends with an outing to DusunKunjani where the Year 10 students are evaluated on their endurance, teamwork and their overall unity as a ‘family’ as students, friends and a team of the same school. An evaluation form to the Year 10 students was sent by 27 July 2017 to gain insights for the improvement of the Student Council and overall response of the freshmen on their orientation day. Some comments include:

  • “I love the SOD. The second day is great. The missions and games are all great. The committees are all very nice. They liked to help and makes the games very fun. Everything is organized well. I hope other people experienced also experience great times in the SOD.
