IPEKA Junior High Combined Service Dare to be Different

A wise king once asked, “How can a young man keep his way pure?” And the king answered, “By living according to your (God’s) word.” (Psalms 119:9). Yes, His Word is the lamp to the feet of the young generation and the light for their path so that they can live and shine brightly for Him.

IPEKA Christian School is also concerned to support students as young generation of Christians to dare to be different. That is why the school held a combined service for its Junior High students to remind them about that on last 2 April 2013 at GKY (Gereja Kristus Yesus) Mangga Besar, Jakarta.

IPEKA invited Rev. Benny Solihin to share God’s Word as well as to urge students to live for the Lord, to receive Him in their hearts as their Savior, dare to be different and make a positive impact to others wherever they might live. Rev. Benny also challenged students about the following:

Young generation must acknowledge their identities as Christians and understand that they are precious in before Him

  1. Young generation should know God’s calling upon their lives, that is to be involved in the society, to be inclusive not exclusive
  2. Young generation must be change agents, to make a positive impact to the world, and not the other way around

Just as the salt is for food to make it salty and tasty, so does young generation to make a difference and impact for the society, the nation and this world. But if salt loses its flavor—while perhaps actually it can’t—how can it be made salty again? Likewise, if young generation loses hope, gives no contribution, then how can they continue to achieve in this life?

“You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its flavor, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled on by people. You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill cannot be hidden. People do not light a lamp and put it under a basket but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honor to your Father in heaven.”

―Matthew 5:13-16
