I remember when they were all enrolled in Year 7, attending Junior High for the first time. How time went by and that was three years ago! Before our own eyes, we just celebrated their graduation on June 5, 2015 through an event we called THANKSGIVING.
It was indeed a time of Thanksgiving where looking back, we saw how God protected and molded them. I am sure we remember as teenagers, life was never simple but filled with temptations, contradictions, trials and errors.
This is also what I observed of our students, where many of them were so eager to put their marks in the world, either through their own endeavor, academics, sports, arts, etc. I remember how many of our boys often the first in submitting inter-school proposals for basketball, soccer or table tennis competitions. I remember how for years, several of our students studied hard to compete in National and International competitions. I remember how a group of Year 9 students formed a band to participate in band competition, served in music ministry, as well as performed for their parents on the night of Thanksgiving celebration. Their passion got them going.
Thus upon praying, the verse Deuteronomy 31:8 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged came to my mind. I believe God has a great plan for each one of them and He is preparing each one of these precious children.
Furthermore, a new initiative we endorsed for this special occasion was the theme Indonesia. How beautiful it turned out to be! Teachers played angklung and students performed and sang Indonesian traditional songs. Best of all, we saw our female students wore Indonesian traditional clothes kebaya. Many of them said, for the first time. They were stunning!
To encapsulate, the whole event was about consecrating our students with God’s bountiful blessings, and praying for each of these students great impact for Indonesia.
