“What’s So Special about Christmas?” IICS Junior High Christmas Celebration

button_IICS goods copyThe spirit of giving is in the air at the Christmas celebration of IICS. “Giving brings us more happiness than receiving.” It’s true! And it is better to serve than to feel antipathy.

During the celebration last December 7, 2012 at IICS Grand Chapel with the theme “What’s So Special about Christmas?”, students donated basic staple foods to:

  • The ministry for children of scavengers in Bantar Gebang, Bekasi
  • Rumah Shallom orphanage in Bekasi
  • Gereja Kristen Maranatha Indonesia (GKMI), Gading Sangon Community, represented by Ev. Lidya
  • The orphans at Yayasan Pendidikan Dwituna Rawinala, a non-profit foundation that takes care of little children with multiple disabilities, who were invited to attend the said Christmas celebration

The occasion highlighted IICS students’ and teachers’ drama performances, angklung performance and reading of Bible verses in several languages such as Tagalog, Mandarin and Bataknese. Mr. Rick Seir also delivered a sermon during the affair.

Meanwhile, the visually impaired children from Dwituna Rawinala Foundation sang the song “Open the Eyes of My Heart” during the Praise and Worship time. It was a one-of-a-kind experience that touched the hearts of the students and attendees.

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.”
―Luke 2:11
