Competition is a good way for students to learn and to gain experience. Some of IICS students answered the challenge by joining the World Mathematics Invitational (WMI). The preliminary round of the WMI was held on February 2018.
After the preliminary results were revealed, the students received an invitation for the WMI final round in South Korea in July 2018. The result was: 1 Silver medal achieved by Michelle Erine Tan and 3 Bronze medals achieved by Nathan Keith Poernama, Ryan Y. Batubara, and Tobias Tito Surjorahardjo!
According to Nathan K Poernama, “The WMI completely supports our drive to compete and prove ourselves through the short amount of time given to complete a fairly complex set of mathematical problems. Not only that, I find this competition as a chance to meet and socialize with people of higher intelligence and reasoning that happen to not only exceed in math, but also in other prominent sectors of life. All in all, I find this competition valuable and enjoyable, not just for the accomplishment I made, but for the priceless experience and new friends I made that I will treasure.”
Congratulations for our young mathematicians! Continue to expand and sharpen your God-given talents!
