IICS Retreat has always been an awaited program, both for students and teachers. It is not just one of the annual programs in our school, but it is also a time for the students to get away from the bustling city of Jakarta, to focus more on God, as well as building friendship and memories together.
This year’s retreat was held in Via Renata, Puncak, on Oct. 25-27, 2017. About 95 year 7 students and teachers were challenged to grow spiritually at this three days event. Through the sermon, small group discussion, and games, the students were introduced to our yearly theme, Growing Spiritually, which was taken from 1 Peter 2:1-3.
The retreat was organized into 6 main sessions. Each session included an ice-breaker game, a time of worship led by a student chapel band, and God’s special message for the students, delivered by GI. Albert Kurniawan, Ibu Leonny Atmadja, Mr. Christopher Hermawan, and also Ms. Louisa Pangestu. The messages about sins and repentance were boldly declared, as well as the practical steps on how to grow spiritually in Christ. In one of the sessions, students were also given a chance to identify their Love Languages.
The highlight of this retreat was on the second session, when some students received Jesus as their personal Savior for the first time, and some others renew their commitment to God. It was such a blessed moment to see these young souls responding to God’s words.
